Master’s student aims to improve health and safety of world’s children
February 18, 2009
With funding available from the Mary Lou Fulton Chair in the College of Health and Human Performance, master of public health student Ryan Lindsay designed a survey to gather data on the attitudes and perceptions of street children in the Philippines. Governments and NGOs around the world are looking for ways to promote health and safety of such children, who are at risk for sexually transmitted diseases.
"Conducting primary research like this is something often only offered in PhD programs," Lindsay says. "The Fulton Chair has been a blessing." With data, Lindsay says interventions can be tailored to better protect these at-risk children. "These are pressing issues in our world."
Thanking those who support student research and mentoring at BYU Lindsay says, “Because of you I have been able to apply lessons I learned in class for the benefit of others.”
