Having enjoyed the Tanner Building Addition now for more than a semester, it’s hard to imagine how we ever did without it. When the structure opened on the first day of fall semester, there were audible gasps. Students and faculty were wide-eyed, walking around exploring study rooms, finding their new classrooms, and marveling at the beauty and space in the structure.

Cutting-edge facilities, rooms for teams, and space for MBA program to grow

Beyond the oohs and ahhs, the highly functional addition will allow the Marriott School to do three important things: First, improve our teaching with technologically enhanced facilities. Second, provide space for students to work in teams. And third, double the size of our flagship MBA program. Increasing the size of this program will not only allow us to educate and train even more business leaders but also continue to continue to attract top recruiters looking for a variety of talent.

Since moving into the Tanner Building in 1983, the Marriott School has added 66 percent more students and 40 percent more faculty. The addition allows us to accommodate that growth and improve some of the fundamentals.

School’s rankings increase

Not long after we began occupying the addition, we learned that our MBA program had, for the first time, cracked the top 25 in BusinessWeek’s MBA program rankings. About a week later more than 1,500 accounting professors selected our graduate accounting program as best in the nation—unseating the University of Texas at Austin, which had held the top spot for more than a decade.

Thanks to you!

We are ever grateful for the support of our National Advisory Council and other friends of the Marriott School for making the building addition possible. We also recognize the increased responsibility to wisely apply these resources to build the kingdom. A thousand thanks.
