LDS School in Benemerito

LDS School in Colonia Juarez, Mexico

In 1887, Annie G. Romney taught school from her home in Colonia Juarez and eventually moved the school to an adobe building. In 1897, Dr. Karl G. Maeser appointed Guy Wilson as head of the Juarez Stake Academy and the newly formed high school housed in a beautiful brick building.

Today, the academy continues its outstanding reputation serving middle and high school students from the local community as well as attracting students from neighboring states.

Further south in Mexico City, the Benemerito de las Americas, lovingly known as "The Bene",  was established in 1964 and sits on a pristine campus that now welcomes high school students from across the country.

The combined schools support nearly 2,600 students who are taught by qualified local teachers.  The schools provide graduates with the skills to attend national and international technical schools and universities.  It also prepares them for Church missionary and leadership responsibilities.

Your donations provide scholarships for students with the greatest needs.
