Saineha Middle and High School in Tonga
Church schools in Tonga are staffed by qualified local teachers and administrators who work with 2,300 students and enjoy support from graduates and friends around the globe.
Since the early days of the plantations, the schools have been at the heart of learning, socialization, and community. In April of 1909, six missionaries arrived on the northern island of Vava'u where they held classes in English and taught the gospel.
Today, Saineha Middle and High School sits on the beautiful island of Vava'u. The middle schools Liahona, Pakilau, and Havelu, as well as Liahona High School, operate on the island of Tongatapu. The Church also has middle schools on the islands of Eua and Ha'apai.
The school program in Tonga provides graduates with the skills to attend regional technical schools and universities. It prepares them for Church missionary and leadership responsibilities.
