Can an animated series about time travel inspire kids to enlarge their circle of love and care? Can a podcast devoted to imaginative storytelling move a listener to seek out a higher power? Can a sports talk show help us be our best selves?
BYU Broadcasting creates engaging viewing and listening experiences that entertain, inspire, uplift, and improve families and communities. Jeff Simpson, managing director of BYU Broadcasting, says that the campus-based stations “strive to be beacons of light in a darkening media landscape.”

The growth of BYU Broadcasting is linked to support from alumni and friends of BYU. Donor funding—which in 2021 provided $2,753,402—plays a pivotal role in BYUtv and BYUradio shows reaching viewers and listeners across the United States and around the world.
“Donations allow us to share and sometimes even create shows like The Chosen, Artful, Come Follow Up, The Fixers, Grace Notes, Ruby and the Well, and the upcoming feature film Act of God,” says Simpson. “We’re grateful for everyone who helps us bring goodness to a world that is hungry for our brand of entertainment that brings families together.”
Recent Awards and Nominations
BYUtv was nominated for five 2022 Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards for the following productions:
- NCAA women’s soccer Elite 8 game
- “Drawn to the Light” (BYUtv ad)
- Ruby and the Well (launch promotion)
- Studio C (“Family” promotion)
- Deep Blue (“Sports with Values” promotion)
All-Round Champion won the Canadian Screen Award (the equivalent of an Emmy) for 2022 Best Children’s or Youth Nonfiction Program or Series.
The Wizard of Paws received two consecutive Critics Choice Real TV Awards nominations for Best Animal/Nature Show.
The heartwarming reality series Welcome Home was nominated for a Daytime Emmy.
BYUradio's scripted audio drama Treasure Island 2020 was nominated for a Peabody Award.
Top of Mind host Julie Rose won a Gracie Award, which honors women in broadcast media.
