Vision

Learning about ancestors helps us better understand who we are. FamilySearch’s vision is carried out by dedicated employees and volunteers who work tirelessly to preserve and share the largest collection of genealogical and historical records in the world. FamilySearch strives to create and link the best and most valuable research resources to help people discover who they are by exploring where they came from.

For over 100 years, FamilySearch and its predecessors have been actively gathering, preserving, and sharing genealogical records worldwide. They offer many services for free to the world, including image capture, digital conversion, preservation, online indexing, and online access to records and documents. Help with the effort either by volunteering time or making a donation online.

    • Racing Against Time

Only 13 percent of the world’s top genealogical records are digitized and preserved, leaving the rest at risk of destruction or loss. At current rates it will take 124 years to capture the top-tier records. Governments are asking FamilySearch for help in preserving their records at three times the rate FamilySearch and its crews can capture.

    • What Can You Do With a Dime?

FamilySearch is strengthening its efforts to capture records. For just 10 cents you can save a record - that’s 10 records for every dollar you give. The ancestor you save may turn out to be your long lost cousin twice removed.
