Donations to the Humanitarian Aid Fund support emergency response efforts, as well as many other humanitarian initiatives approved by Church leaders. More Information
Have you ever wondered about the various ways the LDS Church responds to disasters? This video by LDS Charities (Humanitarian Services) explains how they are able to respond quickly in times of need, as well as how they partner with other organizations.
Blessing the Poor and Needy When Disaster Strikes
When disasters occur, many Latter-day Saints and others respond generously, donating time and money to help those in need.
Because of the generosity of others, Humanitarian Services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who operates LDS Charities, sends food, clothing, medical supplies, and other emergency relief assistance to bless the lives of those with urgent needs.
In recent years Humanitarian Services has responded to hundreds of requests for aid from around the globe. These include:
- aid for earthquake and tsunami victims;
- emergency aid following tornadoes, hurricanes or typhoons;
- help for those impacted by floods and mudslides; and
- relief to refugees and other victims of war.
One hundred percent of every dollar donated is used to help those in need without regard to race, religion, or ethnic origin.
Note: Dark areas on the map represent those countries receiving aid. To allow for maximum flexibility in responding to emergencies, donations to Humanitarian Services are not earmarked for specific projects but are distributed where the need is greatest.
